How the weight is worked out
Each item is weighed on our server from how it is made. The fence rolls are weighed from their wires, knots and coating, and RTHT™ high tensile barbed wire from its bundle. Concertina coil is weighed from its blade and core wire, and QvikFixrr™ posts from the IS 808 weight of their angle, with their galvanising. The total is then widened into a range and rounded to whole steps, so it is good for planning transport and nothing more.

Fence weight calculator questions
Why does the calculator give a range and not an exact weight?
Because the weight of an order depends on the exact specification: the wire counts, the coating, the roll lengths and the posts. The range is wide enough to plan the vehicle with. The exact weight comes with your bill of quantities, by email, or with your quotation.
Why is weight not a good way to compare fences?
Because a heavier fence is not a stronger or longer-lasting one. Strength comes from the wire's tensile strength and the knot that locks every crossing; life comes from the coating mass and the corrosion of the site. Compare those, and the posts each fence needs.
Chain link vs knotted fenceHow many rolls fit in a truck?
Fence rolls are bulky, so a truck can fill up before it reaches its weight limit. The calculator gives the truck loads by weight; we confirm the vehicle and the loading with your order.
Can I work out the weight from the length of my fence?
Yes: the fence BOQ generator takes your runs and the fence, counts every item and gives the transport range for the whole fence.
