What makes RTHT high tensile barbed wire different?
Two high tensile wires twist together, and the twist reverses at each barb. RTHT comes in one coating only, Zeta Nova grade zinc-aluminium.
Two high-tensile wires twist together, the twist reversing at each barb, and the barbs are added along the strand. RTHT barbed wire: reverse-twisted, 15.5 x 15.5 SWG, 800 MPa wire, Zn-Al 120 GSM.
1Measure the boundaryThe length of fence the barbed wire runs along, in metres.
2Multiply by the strandsOne strand on top of a fence, or several on their own.
3Divide by the bundleOne bundle is 200 m; round the total up to whole bundles.
Each strand of a 1 km boundary takes 5 bundles. The order list near the top of this page takes RTHT on its own, and the fencing cost estimator adds it to a fence.

More about RTHT barbed wire
Where does high tensile barbed wire go: on top of a fence or on its own?
High tensile barbed wire (kantedar taar) goes where the threat is people climbing over, not only animals crossing. RTHT is used in three ways:
On top of a knotted fence, in the attachments of QvikFixrr fence posts above the fabric. This is the usual way for factories, warehouses, data centres and solar parks, with concertina coil as well on high-security sites. On a ZS-Knot™ (Anti Climb) security fence it sits above the 4 x 2 inch grid. See industrial fencing and solar plant fencing.
On its own, strung between posts in several strands, for farm and agricultural boundaries. See farm fencing.
A farm fence against nilgai and wild boar usually needs no barbed wire at all: the knotted fence does that job, and RTHT goes on top only where people are also a threat.

How long does RTHT barbed wire last?
RTHT is rated for 15 years or more with correct installation. It comes in one coating only, Zeta Nova grade (Zn-Al 90/10, 120 GSM): the same coating as SIMO Securon Zeta Nova fence.
The rated life is a design figure that assumes correct installation: posts free of rust, fertilisers and chemicals kept off the wire, and fixing to SIMO Securon’s installation standards.

How much barbed wire do you need?
Multiply the boundary length by the number of strands, divide by the length of one RTHT bundle (200 m, 12 to 13 kg), and round up. Each strand of a 1 km boundary takes 5 bundles.

Add up the strands, then round the total up to whole bundles: two strands round a square acre, for example, take 510 m of wire, which is 3 bundles. At 200 m, 12 to 13 kg a bundle, a 1 km strand weighs about 60 to 65 kg.
On a fence, RTHT is quoted with the fabric, posts and fittings as one system. The fencing cost estimator works out the fence, posts and an RTHT topping for your boundary, and the order list near the top of this page takes RTHT on its own. Every job is built to the drawing agreed with you.
How is barbed wire priced: per kg or per metre?
Barbed wire is often quoted per kg, but a boundary is measured in metres, so compare prices per metre of wire. One RTHT bundle is 200 m, 12 to 13 kg, so a kilogram is about 15 to 17 metres of wire, and one strand of a 1 km boundary weighs about 60 to 65 kg. The price of a barbed wire topping then depends on the number of strands, the boundary length and the posts it sits on. Send your boundary length and the number of strands on WhatsApp to +91 93730 08466 for your price.
Who makes RTHT barbed wire?
RTHT is SIMO Securon’s own brand of reverse-twisted high tensile barbed wire, made in India at MIDC Butibori, Nagpur, by SIMO WiroTEK Private Limited (formerly SIMO Screens Private Limited). The company’s ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 certificates cover the manufacture and supply of knotted fences, barbed wires, fence installation works and accessories. FAQ
Questions about RTHT barbed wire
How many metres of RTHT barbed wire are in a kilogram?
About 15 to 17 metres: a bundle of SIMO Securon RTHT is 200 m, 12 to 13 kg, so a kilogram is roughly 15 to 17 metres of barbed wire, and one strand of a 1 km boundary weighs about 60 to 65 kg. RTHT comes in whole bundles, so order from your boundary length and number of strands rather than by weight.
How many strands of barbed wire does a boundary need?
It depends on the site: what you are keeping out, whether RTHT runs on top of a fence or on its own, and the height of the boundary. SIMO Securon recommends the number of strands for each site, and you can set it yourself in the order list on this page.
Can I use RTHT on its own, without a fence under it?
Yes. SIMO Securon also supplies RTHT on its own for farm and agricultural boundaries, strung between posts in several strands. Where wild boar and smaller animals are the problem, a knotted fence closes the gaps that strands of barbed wire leave open.
Tell us the boundary length and the fence under it. We will suggest the number of strands and send the price for your order, in bundles of 200 m, 12 to 13 kg.
