Knotted fence specifications: grades, heights and grids compared
A knotted (fixed knot) fence is a high tensile fence with a knot locking every crossing, so its posts can stand 5 to 6 m apart. Its specifications start with the grade: SIMO Securon makes Alpha, rated for 35 years or more; Zeta Nova, 20 years; and Pi, 10 years. Q-Knotâ„¢ keeps animals out; ZS-Knotâ„¢ (Anti Climb), people.
- ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 certified (Royal Assessments)
- Tested at NABL-accredited laboratories
- Made in Nagpur since 2023
- Installation anywhere in India
Animals or people: which knotted fence do you need?
The technology decides what the fence keeps out, and it is chosen separately from the grade.
How long should it last? Alpha, Zeta Nova or Pi
The grade sets the coating on the wire, and so the rated life: zinc-aluminium (Zn-Al) on Alpha and Zeta Nova, zinc with a topcoat on Pi.
- Alpha35+ yearsrated lifeSolar parks, factories and data centres, corridors, forests, and anyone who wants to fence once for 35 years or more.
- Zeta Nova20 yearsrated lifeFarms, plots and estates, solar farms and industrial perimeters, balancing life and cost.
- Pi10 yearsrated lifeFarms, commercial plots and general boundaries: an affordable fence with a real rated life.
Which fence posts, fittings and toppings go with it?
A knotted fence is only as strong as its weakest connection, so they are supplied with it as one matched system.
QvikFixrrâ„¢ posts and fittings
GI angle posts, clips, fabric locks and fasteners, concertina coil and installation tools.
RTHTâ„¢ barbed wire
Reverse-twisted high tensile barbed wire on the post attachments, over any SIMO Securon fence or on its own.
Chain link, made to order
To IS 2721 or in Zeta Nova grade Zn-Al coating, for temporary or low-cost boundaries.
What gives each grade its rated life?
The grade is the coating on the wire, and so the rated life. Every grade is tested at NABL-accredited laboratories.
Knotted fence specifications: compare grades, heights and grids
Compare all grades: how do Alpha, Zeta Nova and Pi compare?
SIMO Securon Alpha is rated for 35 years or more, Zeta Nova for 20 years and Pi for 10 years; conventional galvanised chain link usually lasts 2 to 5 years in Indian conditions. The table sets out every specification by grade, from coating and tensile strength to post spacing and roll length.

Q-Knot or ZS-Knot: what is the difference?
Q-Knot keeps animals out and ZS-Knot (Anti Climb) keeps people out. The technology is the knot and the grid, and it is chosen separately from the grade.
| Technology | Q-Knot | ZS-Knot (Anti Climb) |
|---|---|---|
| Keeps out | Animals: nilgai, wild boar, deer, cattle | People: intruders, theft, trespass |
| How | A fixed knot at every crossing and crimped line wires that spring back | A knot wrapped above and below every crossing; on the 4 x 2 inch anti-climb grid, no toe or finger hold |
| Wire | 1150 to 1300 MPa in Alpha and Zeta Nova; 850 to 900 MPa in Pi | 700 to 800 MPa in every grade |
| Grids | Graduated | 4 x 2 inch anti-climb and 4 x 4 inch (to 8 ft); 3 x 3 inch (to 6 ft) |
| Grades | Alpha, Zeta Nova, Pi | Alpha, Zeta Nova |
- Q-Knot, keeps animals out: a separate wire wrapped round each crossing of line wire and stay: a true fixed knot that cannot slip.
- ZS-Knot, keeps people out: a separate knot wire wrapped at least one full turn above and below each crossing, with a diagonal across the line wire.
Which height: 5 ft, 6 ft or 8 ft?
SIMO Securon knotted fence is made 5 ft (1.5 m) and 6 ft (1.8 m) high as standard, and up to 8 ft (2.4 m) to order in Alpha and Zeta Nova. Alpha is not made at 5 ft. Choose the height by what the fence must stop.
| Height | Made in | Usually chosen for |
|---|---|---|
| 5 ft (1.5 m) | Zeta Nova, Pi | Plots, farmhouses and estates, in Zeta Nova; farms where wild boar and smaller animals are the problem, in Pi |
| 6 ft (1.8 m) | Alpha, Zeta Nova, Pi | Farms with nilgai, which need at least 6 ft, or stray cattle, in Zeta Nova or Alpha; solar plants, in Alpha |
| Up to 8 ft (2.4 m), to order | Alpha, Zeta Nova | Forests, wildlife areas and zoos, in Q-Knot; factories, warehouses and data centres, in ZS-Knot (Anti Climb) |
What else comes with an order?
SIMO Securon sells its fence three ways, with QvikFixrr posts and fittings as one matched system, and RTHT barbed wire on top where people are the threat.
On fence supply orders of 2 km running length and above, you get one free set of installation tools per project, and SIMO makes 8 ft posts, special foundations and other designs to suit the site.

FAQ
Questions about SIMO Securon knotted fence products
How long is a roll of SIMO Securon fence?
A roll of SIMO Securon Q-Knot fence is 50 m in Alpha, 30 m in Zeta Nova and 100 ft (30.5 m) in Pi. ZS-Knot (Anti Climb) comes in 50 m rolls in every grid and both grades. On long runs, rolls are joined by splicing and twisting the line wires together, with no welding, so the coating stays intact.
Which grade and height should I buy for a farm?
For nilgai and cattle, SIMO Securon suggests a 6 ft Q-Knot fence in Zeta Nova or Alpha; Pi suits wild boar and smaller animals. The Q-Knot graduated grid puts its line wires closest together at the bottom, where animals push.
Farm fencing for nilgai and wild boarIs ZS-Knot wire as strong as Q-Knot wire?
SIMO Securon ZS-Knot (Anti Climb) wire is 700 to 800 MPa in every grade, lower than the 1150 to 1300 MPa of Q-Knot wire in Alpha and Zeta Nova, because the ZS-Knot knot requires it. ZS-Knot is built to stop people: its 4 x 2 inch anti-climb grid leaves no toe or finger hold.
ZS-Knot (Anti Climb) fenceWhat do grade and technology mean on a SIMO Securon fence?
The grade is the coating on the wire, and so the rated life: Alpha, Zeta Nova or Pi. The technology is the knot and the grid, and so what the fence keeps out: Q-Knot for animals, ZS-Knot (Anti Climb) for people. SIMO Securon makes Q-Knot in all three grades and ZS-Knot in Alpha and Zeta Nova, so the two are chosen separately.
How much does a 5 ft knotted fence cost?
It depends on the grade, the length, the posts, the gates and who installs it, so SIMO Securon sends your exact price on WhatsApp once it knows these. A 5 ft fence is made in Zeta Nova and Pi; per kilometre it takes 34 rolls of Zeta Nova or 33 of Pi, and 201 posts at a 5 metre gap on a straight run.
Fencing cost in IndiaWhere can I buy SIMO Securon knotted fence?
Directly from SIMO Securon, on supply only, supply and install, or turnkey EPC terms, or from an authorised SIMO Securon dealer. Call or WhatsApp +91 93730 08466 with your PIN code, or send a project RFQ for a bill of quantities.
Supply, installation and EPCHow do I get a material list for my fence?
Give the SIMO Securon fencing cost estimator your boundary length or land area: it suggests a grade and design and lists the rolls, posts and toppings. Prices depend on the grade, height, boundary length, site and service, so they are not published; your price comes on WhatsApp. Project buyers can send an RFQ for a bill of quantities.
Get my material listNot sure which grade you need?
Tell the estimator your site type, what you need to keep out and how long the fence must last. It recommends a grade and works out the quantities; your price comes on WhatsApp.
