How does SIMO Securon Zeta Nova last?

Three things back Zeta Nova's rated life: its zinc-aluminium coating, salt spray testing and testing at NABL-accredited laboratories, with correct installation.

The Zeta Nova coating against standard galvanised wireCross-sections of four wires, not to scale. Standard galvanised wire carries 40 to 60 GSM zinc. SIMO Securon Pi carries 80 to 100 GSM zinc with a topcoat, Zeta Nova 120 GSM zinc-aluminium, and Alpha a minimum of 240 GSM zinc-aluminium, four to six times the coating mass of standard galvanised wire.NOT TO SCALEStandard galvanised40 to 60 GSM zincPI80 to 100 GSM zincwith topcoatSalt spray: about 200 h (estimate)ZETA NOVA120 GSM Zn-AlSalt spray: 1,200 h, no red rustALPHA240 GSM minimum Zn-AlSalt spray: 2,000 h, no red rustWire coreCoatingZETA NOVA: ZINC-ALUMINIUM, 120 GSM

    How rated life is calculated

Installing SIMO Securon Zeta Nova in three steps

    1. Set the postsQvikFixrr GI angle posts every 5 m, with terminal and corner posts braced in concrete.
    2. Let the concrete cureTension the fence only once the concrete has cured.
    3. Fix and tensionFix the fabric to rust-free posts with QvikFixrr clips and fabric locks.

Correct installation is a condition of Zeta Nova’s rated life: choose supply and install, or have SIMO Securon train your own workers. Step by step: the fence installation guide.

Your price depends on the length, height, ground, posts, toppings and who installs it.

More about SIMO Securon Zeta Nova

Who is SIMO Securon Zeta Nova for?

SIMO Securon Zeta Nova is for farms, plots and boundaries that need a fence to stop animals and to last. It is rated for 20 years, on the same high tensile wire as the Alpha knotted fence, with half Alpha’s minimum coating mass.

    • Farms and plantations losing crops to nilgai (blue bull), wild boar, deer and stray cattle. For nilgai and cattle, SIMO Securon suggests Zeta Nova or Alpha at 6 ft; the graduated grid’s tight lower wires stop boar and small animals. See farm fencing.
    • Plots, farmhouses and estates: a 5 ft Zeta Nova fence on QvikFixrr fence posts marks and secures the boundary without the civil work of a compound wall. Add RTHT barbed wire on top where security matters. See plot boundary fencing.
    • Solar farms and industrial perimeters where a 20-year rated life fits the project, including the ZS-Knot 4 x 2 inch anti-climb grid where people are the threat. See solar plant fencing and industrial fencing.

How long does a Zeta Nova fence last?

SIMO Securon Zeta Nova is rated for 20 years with correct installation, against 2 to 5 years for conventional galvanised chain link (jali) in Indian conditions. The evidence:

    1. Coating. Zn-Al 90/10, 120 GSM, with no wax topcoat: two to three times the 40 to 60 GSM on conventional galvanised wire. See how a zinc-aluminium coating protects steel wire.
    2. Salt spray. Tested to 1,200 hours salt spray without red rust.
    3. Laboratory testing. Tested at NABL-accredited laboratories for tensile strength (IS 1608, Part 1) and coating mass and adherence (IS 6745). See which tests apply to Zeta Nova.

The rated life holds with correct installation: posts free of rust, braced corners and ends, tension applied only once the concrete has cured, rolls stored dry before fitting, and fertilisers and chemicals kept off the fence.

Zeta Nova, Alpha or Pi: which grade should you choose?

Zeta Nova sits in the middle of the SIMO Securon range. It uses the same Q-Knot wire as Alpha, 1150 to 1300 MPa, with half Alpha’s minimum coating; against Pi, it has stronger wire and a zinc-aluminium coating in place of zinc with a topcoat.

    • Choose Zeta Nova for most farms, plots and farmhouses, and for 5 ft or 6 ft fences that must last. SIMO Securon Zeta Nova is rated for 20 years.
    • Choose Alpha for a long perimeter around a valuable asset, where replacing the fence mid-life is not an option. SIMO Securon Alpha is rated for 35 years or more.
    • Choose the affordable Pi grade if budget matters most and wild boar or smaller animals are the problem. SIMO Securon Pi is rated for 10 years.

What heights and grids does the Zeta Nova knotted fence come in?

Zeta Nova is made in 5 ft and 6 ft as standard, and to order up to 8 ft, in both SIMO Securon technologies: Q-Knot keeps animals out, and ZS-Knot keeps people out.

Technology Keeps out Grids Heights Roll length
Q-Knot Animals: nilgai, wild boar, deer, cattle Graduated: 3.5 inches at the bottom to 7 inches at the top, a stay every 6 inches 5 ft (14 line wires) and 6 ft (16 or 20); 8 ft to order (20) 30 m
    ZS-Knot (Anti Climb) People climbing or cutting in 4 x 2 inch anti-climb; 4 x 4 inch; 3 x 3 inch 4 x 2 and 4 x 4 up to 8 ft; 3 x 3 up to 6 ft 50 m, every grid

Choose the height by what you are keeping out: at least 6 ft for nilgai and cattle, 5 to 6 ft for wild boar and smaller animals, and 8 ft for a forest or wildlife boundary. An 8 ft fence needs custom posts, made for fence supply orders of 2 km running length and above.

How much Zeta Nova fence do you need per acre?

A square acre is about 255 metres around, so it takes 9 rolls of Zeta Nova and about 51 posts at 5 m. Divide the boundary length by the 30 m roll and round up:

Land (square) Boundary, about Rolls of 30 m Posts at 5 m
    1 acre 255 m 9 51
    5 acres 569 m 19 114
    10 acres 805 m 27 161
    1 km closed boundary 1,000 m 34 200

Bracing for the corner and end posts comes on top, and long, narrow fields need more fence for the same area. The fencing cost estimator works out the rolls and posts for your land, and fencing cost per acre explains each step.

How is a Zeta Nova fence installed?

Correct installation is a condition of Zeta Nova’s rated life, so SIMO Securon recommends supply and install by its trained crews. If your own workers install, SIMO Securon can send a trainer to work alongside them on tensioning, bracing and fixing, with instructional videos to return to. Posts go every 5 m on QvikFixrr GI angle posts, terminal and corner posts are braced in concrete, and the fence is tensioned only once the concrete has cured. Post sizes and foundation depths are on the fence posts and fittings page; the ways to buy are on fencing supply and installation services.

Is Zeta Nova more cost effective than chain link?

Over the life of the fence, SIMO Securon Zeta Nova against conventional galvanised chain link: 10 to 20 percent more cost effective, and twice the life. Chain link costs less to buy, but it needs a post every 2.5 to 3 metres; Zeta Nova needs one every 5 m, so a boundary needs around half the posts, with less digging and concrete.

    FAQ

Questions about SIMO Securon Zeta Nova

Is Zeta Nova suitable for a site near the coast?

SIMO Securon Zeta Nova's rated life of 20 years is for C1 to C3 environments (ISO 9223) with correct installation. ISO 9223 grades how corrosive the air is, from C1 (very low) to C5 and CX (very high and extreme). C1 to C3 typically covers inland rural areas, towns and cities, and light industry. Sites within 20 km of the coast, and chemically aggressive sites, are usually C4 or above and need a site-specific recommendation. Send your PIN code and SIMO Securon will advise before you order.

Will Zeta Nova keep nilgai and wild boar out of my farm?

Yes, at the right height: for nilgai and cattle, SIMO Securon suggests Zeta Nova or Alpha at 6 ft, and for wild boar and smaller animals, 5 to 6 ft. The Q-Knot graduated grid is tightest at ground level, where boar push underneath; its fixed knots cannot slip, and its deep-crimped line wires let the fence spring back after an animal hits it.

Protect crops from nilgai and wild boar

Can Zeta Nova replace a compound wall around a plot?

For security and a clear boundary, yes: a SIMO Securon Zeta Nova fence has equivalent strength to a precast or masonry compound wall, goes up twice as fast and needs far less civil work. A wall is still the right choice where you need privacy or noise screening.

    Compound wall vs fencing

How much does a Zeta Nova fence cost per metre?

SIMO Securon gives your price once it knows the length, height, posts, toppings and who installs, because those set the cost. The quantities are fixed: Zeta Nova comes in 30 m rolls, so a kilometre takes 34 rolls and 201 posts at a 5 metre gap on a straight run. Send your boundary on WhatsApp for your exact price.
