Chain link fencing (jali): price, sizes and when it fits

Last updated

Chain link fencing (jali) is a woven diamond mesh, and its price depends on the wire gauge, mesh size, height, coating and length, plus the posts. SIMO Securon makes chain link to order under its QvikFixrr™ range, galvanised to IS 2721 or in Zeta Nova grade zinc-aluminium (Zn-Al). Send your size for a price.

Chain link, called jali in much of India, is a mesh of wires woven into diamonds, with no knots at the crossings. It is fixed to posts usually 2.5 to 3 metres apart, with a line wire along the top and bottom. It costs less upfront than a knotted fence, closes the gaps that barbed wire (kantedar taar) strands leave, and suits a temporary boundary, a short run, or an enclosure inside a site.

SIMO Securon makes chain link to order under its QvikFixrr range, in two coatings:

  • Galvanised, to IS 2721, the Indian Standard for chain link fence fabric.
  • Zeta Nova grade zinc-aluminium (Zn-Al), the coating SIMO Securon uses on its Zeta Nova knotted fence.

Chain link is sold as its own product, not as part of a knotted fence bay, and SIMO states no rated life for it.

Chain link is quoted in different units: per kg, per sq ft of mesh, per roll or per running metre. A boundary is measured in running metres, so compare quotes per metre of finished fence, at the same height and specification. The price depends on:

  • The wire gauge: thicker wire weighs more and costs more per metre
  • The mesh size: a smaller diamond uses more wire per square metre
  • The height of the fence
  • The coating: galvanised, or zinc-aluminium, and its mass
  • The length of the boundary, and its corners and gates
  • The posts: chain link needs one every 2.5 to 3 metres, each with its hole and concrete
  • Fittings and installation

SIMO Securon makes both, so the honest answer depends on the job. The table compares conventional galvanised chain link with SIMO Securon’s high tensile knotted fence.

Over its life, measured against conventional galvanised chain link, a SIMO Securon knotted fence is:

  • Alpha: Up to 10 percent more cost effective, and longer lasting.
  • Zeta Nova: 10 to 20 percent more cost effective, and twice the life.
  • Pi: Up to 30 percent more cost effective.

Send the height, mesh size, wire, coating and length you need, or just the boundary and what it is for, and the team confirms the specification. Posts, clips and fasteners come from the same QvikFixrr range, and SIMO Securon’s crews can install it. Each order is confirmed individually.

FAQ

What is the price of chain link fencing per kg?

Chain link is often quoted per kg because the mesh is sold by weight, but a heavier gauge or a smaller mesh weighs more per metre. Compare quotes per running metre of fence at the same height, mesh, wire and coating, then add the posts. Send your size on WhatsApp to +91 93730 08466 for a price.

Is chain link the same as jali?

Yes. Jali is the everyday name in India for chain link fencing: a woven diamond mesh of wire, with no knots, fixed to posts set 2.5 to 3 metres apart.

How far apart are chain link posts?

Chain link usually needs a post every 2.5 to 3 metres, because the woven mesh has no knots to keep it rigid. A high tensile fixed knot fence spans 5 to 6 metres between posts, so it needs around half the posts.

Does SIMO Securon sell chain link?

Yes, made to order under the QvikFixrr range: galvanised to IS 2721, or in Zeta Nova grade zinc-aluminium (Zn-Al). Send the height, mesh size, wire, coating and length you need. SIMO states no rated life for chain link.

Chain link or a knotted fence: which should I choose?

Chain link costs less upfront and suits a temporary boundary or a short, low-risk run. For a long boundary against animals, or one you want to fence once, a high tensile knotted fence needs around half the posts and, over its life, is more cost effective than conventional galvanised chain link.
