PVC coated chain link fencing, sourced to your specification
Last updated
PVC coated chain link fencing is chain link woven from metal-coated steel wire with a polymer coat over it, in green, olive green, brown or black. IS 2721:2025 sets it in Classes 2, 3a and 3b: 0.38 to 0.64 mm of extruded polymer, or 0.15 to 0.25 mm fused. It is priced per running metre, square foot or roll. SIMO Securon sources it.
SIMO Securon does not manufacture PVC-coated chain link. We source it to your specification or drawing, invoice it to you and inspect it before dispatch, so what you receive meets your requirement. External testing or third-party inspection can be arranged on request, at extra cost. Sourced materials are supplied only, not installed, and take up to 45 days from order confirmation. Send us your specification, drawing and quantities, and we will come back with availability and a quotation.
What is PVC coated chain link fencing?
PVC coated chain link is chain link, wire woven into diamonds, made from steel wire that is first coated with zinc, aluminium or a zinc-aluminium alloy and then covered in a polymer coat. The polymer gives it its colour. Buyers also call it PVC chain link fence, green chain link or vinyl coated chain link.
IS 2721:2025 covers it as its polymer-coated classes, 2, 3a and 3b, beside the galvanised Class 1.
- The steel wire: the core
- The metal coating: zinc, aluminium or Zn-5% Al
- The polymer coat: extruded or fused
PVC coated chain link specifications: IS 2721
The figures from IS 2721:2025 and EN 10223-6:
| Specification | Figures from the standards |
|---|---|
| Core wire | Steel wire coated with zinc, aluminium or Zn-5% Al, under the polymer |
| Polymer coating | 0.38 to 0.64 mm extruded, or 0.15 to 0.25 mm fused |
| Colours | Green, olive green, brown or black |
| Polymer tests | 1,000 h accelerated ageing, and a bend at -29 °C without cracking |
| Mesh, wire and heights | As for chain link |
The mesh, wire and heights are those of any chain link; see chain link sizes. With a polymer coat, a wire has two sizes, the core and the coated wire, so a complete specification names both, with the class, the colour, the mesh, the height and the roll length.
- The wire: name the core and the coated size
- The mesh size, measured across a diamond between two parallel sides
What sets the price of PVC coated chain link?
PVC coated chain link is quoted per running metre, per square foot, per roll or per kg. The price depends on:
- The core wire and the polymer thickness: extruded or fused.
- The mesh size and the height.
- The colour and the class.
- The posts and fittings, if they come with it, the quantity and the delivery location.
To compare a price per square foot with one per running metre, convert at your fence height:
PVC coated or SIMO Securon’s own chain link?
Choose PVC coated chain link where a colour is wanted, or where your specification names a polymer-coated class. SIMO Securon makes chain link itself in its own grades, in zinc-aluminium (Zn-Al) and zinc (GI) coatings, and builds it to IS 2721 Class 1 when a specification calls for it: see chain link fence and GI chain link.
For a long boundary against animals, a fixed knot fence, which SIMO Securon makes itself, stands its posts 5 to 6 metres apart, against 2.5 to 3 metres for chain link.
How a PVC coated chain link order works
- Send your specification or drawing for the PVC coated chain link, with the quantities and the delivery location. Name the standard if your specification names one.
- We come back with availability and a quotation. On your order, SIMO Securon invoices you and is your single point of contact for it, including any issue with the material against the agreed specification.
- We inspect it before dispatch. External testing or third-party inspection can be arranged on request, at extra cost.
- It takes up to 45 days from order confirmation. Sourced materials are supplied only, not installed.

FAQ
PVC coated chain link questions
What colours does PVC coated chain link come in?
It comes in green, olive green, brown or black. Name the colour, and the coating class, in your specification.
How thick is the PVC on chain link?
Under IS 2721:2025, 0.38 to 0.64 mm when the polymer is extruded over the wire, or 0.15 to 0.25 mm when it is fused on. Ask for the core wire diameter and the coated diameter in writing.
Is green chain link the same as PVC coated chain link?
Usually, yes: green chain link and vinyl coated chain link are names for chain link with a polymer coat. IS 2721:2025 sets it in Classes 2, 3a and 3b.
Does SIMO Securon make PVC coated chain link?
No. SIMO Securon sources PVC coated chain link to your specification. It makes chain link itself in zinc-aluminium (Zn-Al) and zinc (GI) coatings, in its own grades.
