How do QvikFixrr posts and fittings make a complete fence?

A knotted fence is only as strong as its weakest connection, so SIMO Securon supplies the posts, fittings, toppings and tools with the fabric as one matched system.

A complete perimeter systemA fence bay builds up in order: a QvikFixrr terminal post, 65 x 65 x 6 mm; an intermediate post, 50 x 50 x 6 mm; a strut at 45 degrees; the fence fabric; QvikFixrr clips and fabric locks; RTHT barbed wire; and concertina coil on the post attachments.75 cm11QvikFixrr terminal post65 x 65 x 6 mm22Intermediate post50 x 50 x 6 mm33Strutat 45 degrees44Fence fabricQ-Knot or ZS-Knot55Clips and fabric locksQvikFixrr fittings66RTHT barbed wireon the post attachments77Concertina coilsecurity toppingONE SYSTEM

Fence posts explained

Setting fence posts in three steps

  1. Set the postsAt least 50 cm into the ground, every 5 to 6 m for Alpha and 5 m for Zeta Nova and Pi.
  2. Brace the endsTerminal posts get a 45 degree strut and a horizontal stay, in concrete at least 45 x 45 cm and 75 cm deep.
  3. Tension after curingTension the fabric only once the concrete has fully cured; join rolls by splicing, never welding.

Step by step: the fence installation guide.

Your price depends on the number of posts, their section and finish, the corners and gates, and the fence they carry.

More about QvikFixrr posts, fittings and tools

Why buy fence posts and fittings with the fence?

A knotted fence is only as strong as its weakest connection. Premium fabric fixed with weak clips onto rusting posts will fail, and the fence gets the blame. Correct posts and installation are conditions of the fence’s rated life, so SIMO Securon supplies the matched system and quotes it with every fence: one supplier answers for the whole perimeter.

The same range serves owners fencing their own farm or plot (see farm fencing), contractors installing a supply-only order, and dealers selling a complete fence.

What makes up a complete knotted fence?

A complete knotted fence has five parts: the fence fabric, the posts, the fittings that fix one to the other, a topping where people are the threat, and the tools to tension it.

  1. Fabric: SIMO Securon Alpha, Zeta Nova or Pi, in Q-Knot™ or ZS-Knot (Anti Climb).
  2. Posts: QvikFixrr GI angle posts, intermediate, terminal and corner, on 8.5 ft shafts with attachments for a topping.
  3. Fittings: V-Clips and C-Clips, flat bar fabric locks and M10 hot-dip galvanised fasteners.
  4. Toppings: RTHT barbed wire and QvikFixrr concertina coil, where people are the threat.
  5. Tools: a fence puller, a tensioner, a wire twister and wire grip joiners.

Not sure how many posts and clips you need? The fencing cost estimator works them out from your boundary, and the order list near the top of this page takes QvikFixrr items on their own.

How far apart and how deep should fence posts be?

Posts (poles) on a SIMO Securon knotted fence stand 5 to 6 m apart for Alpha and 5 m apart for Zeta Nova and Pi, and go at least 50 cm into the ground: the standard 8.5 ft QvikFixrr shaft on a 6 ft fence leaves about 76 cm below ground. Terminal and corner posts are braced and set in concrete.

Post QvikFixrr size Where it goes In the ground and bracing
Intermediate post GI angle, ISA 50 x 50 x 6 mm Every 5 to 6 m (Alpha) or 5 m (Zeta Nova, Pi) along the run At least 50 cm, so the post is the fence height plus 50 cm or more: about 76 cm on the 8.5 ft shaft at 6 ft. Foundation about 75 cm deep on average; its size and depth depend on the soil and fence height, so adjust them to the site or follow the drawing agreed for the job
Terminal post GI angle, ISA 65 x 65 x 6 mm At the start and end of every run A diagonal strut at 45 degrees and a horizontal stay to the first supporting post; concrete foundation at least 45 x 45 cm and 75 cm deep
Corner post GI angle, ISA 65 x 65 x 6 mm At every change of direction Braced in both directions; concrete foundation 60 x 60 cm and 75 cm deep

Because a knotted fence carries its own tension, it needs around half the posts of conventional galvanised chain link. Posts on a straight run, both end posts included:

Straight run Knotted fence, posts at 5 m Knotted fence, posts at 6 m Conventional chain link, posts at 2.5 m Conventional chain link, posts at 3 m
30 m 7 6 13 11
50 m 11 10 21 18
1 km 201 168 401 335

To fit the fabric, tension it only once the concrete has fully cured, with wire tensioners at the terminal posts, tension wire grips on the line wires, and clips or staples on the stays. Add gravel or crushed stone at the base of a posthole where the ground needs it. Join rolls on a long run by splicing and twisting the line wires together, never by welding. For most sites SIMO Securon recommends supply and install by its trained crews; see fencing supply and installation services.

What is in each part of the QvikFixrr range?

QvikFixrr is the single SIMO Securon brand for everything around the fence fabric: posts, clips, fabric locks and fasteners, concertina coil, chain link and installation tools.

What sizes does concertina coil come in?

QvikFixrr concertina coil (razor wire) comes in every diameter from 450 mm to 1,000 mm, with a 2.5 mm high-tensile core wire and a galvanised blade 0.4 to 0.6 mm thick, in short, medium and long blade profiles; other profiles are available on request.

It sits in the attachments of QvikFixrr posts above the fence fabric, on its own or with RTHT barbed wire, where the threat is people: factories, warehouses, data centres and other high-security sites. See industrial security fencing.

Can SIMO Securon supply chain link to IS 2721?

Yes. QvikFixrr chain link (jali) is made to order: to IS 2721, the Indian Standard for galvanised chain link fence fabric, or in Zeta Nova grade zinc-aluminium (Zn-Al) coating. Send your RFQ with the mesh size, wire gauge, height and length you need, or the tender specification.

Chain link costs less upfront and suits temporary or low-cost boundaries, and tenders that specify it; for a long rated life, choose a knotted fence. Knotted fence vs chain link compares the two.

FAQ

Questions about fence posts and fittings

What size angle iron fence posts does a 6 ft knotted fence need?

SIMO Securon uses QvikFixrr GI angle posts of ISA 50 x 50 x 6 mm for intermediate posts and ISA 65 x 65 x 6 mm for terminal and corner posts, on a standard 8.5 ft shaft. That leaves 6 ft above ground and about 76 cm in the foundation. An 8 ft fence needs custom posts, made for fence supply orders of 2 km running length and above.

Can I use cement or RCC posts instead of angle posts?

Yes, if they meet the standard. SIMO Securon's installation requirements allow concrete columns of at least 150 x 150 mm in high grade concrete, as well as steel angle posts of at least 50 x 50 x 6 mm on regular spans and 65 x 65 x 6 mm at terminals. QvikFixrr posts are GI angle posts. For highway, railway and utility corridors, where steel posts are stolen for scrap, the pilferage-free design uses RCC posts and FRP angles to the required specification and applicable standards.

Highway and railway boundary fencing

Do QvikFixrr clips last as long as the fence?

They are made to: SIMO Securon supplies QvikFixrr V-Clips and C-Clips in industrial grade, Zn-Al coated to match the life of the fence. Posts come hot-dip galvanised (80 micron) or epoxy coated, and every post in contact with the fabric must stay free of rust, so walk the line after storms and replace a rusted post early.

What tools do I need to install a fixed knot fence?

A fence puller (sometimes called a fence stretcher), a tensioner, a wire twister and wire grip joiners. Fence supply orders of 2 km running length and above come with one set of installation tools free, per project: a fence puller, a tensioner and a wire twister. Wire grip joiners are not part of the free set. Terms and conditions apply.

What is the price of fencing poles?

SIMO Securon prices QvikFixrr posts with the fence, by the number you need, their section and finish. The count matters most: with posts every 5 metres, a straight kilometre takes 201 posts, against 401 for conventional galvanised chain link at 2.5 metres. Send your boundary length, corners and gates on WhatsApp to +91 93730 08466 for your price.
