Weld mesh, in rolls or flat panels, sourced to your specification
Last updated
Weld mesh is steel wire welded at every crossing into a grid of rectangles, sold in rolls or flat panels. It is specified by mesh size, wire diameter, height and coating, to IS 19363:2025 for fencing, and priced per square foot, per roll or per kg. SIMO Securon sources weld mesh to your specification.
SIMO Securon does not manufacture weld mesh. We source it to your specification or drawing, invoice it to you and inspect it before dispatch, so what you receive meets your requirement. External testing or third-party inspection can be arranged on request, at extra cost. Sourced materials are supplied only, not installed, and take up to 45 days from order confirmation. Send us your specification, drawing and quantities, and we will come back with availability and a quotation.
What is weld mesh?
Weld mesh, or welded wire mesh, is straight steel wires laid across each other and welded where they cross, so every opening is a fixed rectangle that keeps its shape. It is also sold as weld mesh jali (jali is the everyday word for wire mesh). It comes two ways:
- In rolls, of lighter wire, unrolled along the posts and fixed to them.
- As flat panels, of thicker wire, fixed to posts panel by panel.
Panels with folds pressed across them are 3D weld mesh; panels with very narrow openings are 358 mesh.
- The wire: its diameter, in mm
- The weld: every crossing is welded
- The mesh size: the two sides of the opening, in mm (75 x 25, for example)
Weld mesh specifications: IS 19363:2025
IS 19363:2025 is the Indian Standard for welded wire mesh fencing. IS 4948:2020 covers welded wire mesh for general use, and EN 10223-4 is the European standard. The ranges to choose from:
| Specification | Figures from the standards |
|---|---|
| Rolls | 25 x 25 to 75 x 25 mm mesh, 2.5 to 3.0 mm wire, 0.9 to 3.0 m high |
| Flat panels, without folds | 3 to 5 mm wire, with variable horizontal spacing, 1.2 to 1.8 m high |
| Coating | Zinc before welding, hot-dip zinc after welding, or zinc alloy before welding; or any of these with a polymer coat of at least 50 microns and 1,000 h salt spray |
| Weld strength | Weld shear at least 50 percent of the wire's breaking load (IS 19363) |
A complete specification names the form (rolls or panels), the mesh size, the wire diameter, the height, the coating and the standard. The coating route matters as much as the wire: ask for it, and for any polymer coat’s thickness, in writing.
What sets the price of weld mesh?
Weld mesh is quoted per square foot, per square metre, per roll, per panel or per kg. The price depends on:
- The wire diameter: thicker wire weighs more.
- The mesh size: a smaller opening uses more wire per square metre.
- The height and the roll length or panel size.
- The coating: which zinc route, and whether a polymer coat goes over it.
- The quantity and the delivery location.
A boundary is measured in running metres. To compare a price per square foot with one per running metre, convert the area at your fence height:
When is weld mesh the right fence?
Weld mesh suits a fence that needs small, even openings: enclosures for poultry and small animals, partitions and guards inside a site, and boundaries where a specification names it.
It is not always the honest answer:
- A long farm boundary against nilgai, wild boar or cattle takes the pull of large animals. A high tensile fixed knot fence, which SIMO Securon makes itself, stands its posts 5 to 6 metres apart.
- Where people climbing over is the threat, choose by the opening: a 358 welded panel or SIMO Securon’s ZS-Knot™ 4 x 2 inch knotted fence. See anti-climb fence.
- For a woven diamond mesh, see chain link fence, which SIMO Securon makes in its own grades.
How a weld mesh order works
- Send your specification or drawing for the weld mesh, with the quantities and the delivery location. Name the standard if your specification names one.
- We come back with availability and a quotation. On your order, SIMO Securon invoices you and is your single point of contact for it, including any issue with the material against the agreed specification.
- We inspect it before dispatch. External testing or third-party inspection can be arranged on request, at extra cost.
- It takes up to 45 days from order confirmation. Sourced materials are supplied only, not installed.
To see a knotted fence worked out for the same boundary, with its posts, use the fencing cost estimator. For the other materials SIMO Securon sources, see fencing materials we source.

FAQ
Weld mesh questions
What is the price of weld mesh per sq ft?
There is no one rate: the price depends on the wire diameter, the mesh size, the height, the coating and the quantity. Send your specification and quantity, and SIMO Securon comes back with availability and a quotation. To compare a price per sq ft with one per running metre, convert at your fence height.
What is the difference between weld mesh and chain link?
Weld mesh is straight wires welded at every crossing, so each opening is a fixed rectangle. Chain link is wire woven into diamonds, with no welds. SIMO Securon makes chain link itself, and sources weld mesh.
Chain link fenceWhich standard covers weld mesh fencing?
In India, IS 19363:2025 covers welded wire mesh fencing, and IS 4948:2020 covers welded wire mesh for general use. EN 10223-4 is the European standard. Name the one your specification uses, and its class or coating.
Is weld mesh jali the same as weld mesh?
Yes. Jali is the everyday word for wire mesh in much of India, so weld mesh jali is welded wire mesh, in rolls or panels. Specify it the same way: mesh size, wire diameter, height and coating.
Does SIMO Securon install weld mesh?
No. Weld mesh is a sourced material: SIMO Securon supplies it, and your own contractor installs it. Send the quantity and the delivery location with your specification.
