Fencing cost per acre and per guntha in Maharashtra
Land in Maharashtra is measured in acres, hectares and guntha. A guntha is 1,089 sq ft, a fortieth of an acre, as the state’s land records define it; a 7/12 extract shows hectares and ares. The fence follows the boundary, so the area first becomes a length:
| Land | Boundary, square | Boundary, twice as long as wide | Posts, knotted fence (5 m) | Posts, chain link (2.5 m) | Rolls (30 m) | Price range |

Wild pig, nilgai and gaur: the fence for a Maharashtra farm
Maharashtra’s 2023 Act on compensation for damage by wild animals names, among others, the wild pig, deer, nilgai (blue bull), gaur, elephant, monkey and langur, and covers damage to crops and fruit plants. In July 2025 the Forests Minister told the Legislative Council that crops were still being damaged by wild boars, gaurs and even elephants. Mongabay-India reported in 2026 that spotted deer and wild pig are a growing cause of conflict in the state.
- Against wild pig and nilgai: a 6 ft Q-Knot™ fixed knot fence in Zeta Nova (20 years) or Alpha (35 years or more). Its graduated grid is tightest at the bottom, where wild pig push, and its posts stand 5 metres apart.
- Against cattle and deer: the same fence; for smaller animals and a shorter life, Pi (10 years).
- Elephants and gaur are a matter for the forest department’s own measures; ask your range office.

The Konkan coast: where rated life needs a site recommendation
Maharashtra’s coastline was reassessed in 2025 at 877.97 km, across seven coastal districts: Palghar, Thane, Mumbai Suburban, Mumbai City, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg. For a site within 20 km of the sea, or near chemical works, ask for a site-specific recommendation before you order: sea air is harsher than the C1 to C3 environments rated life assumes. See how rated life is calculated and the fence coating calculator.
